Fragrance:

A soft floral scent with an emphasis on the black orchid, with the unexpected touch of ginger root, bergamot and patchouli.

Ingredients: Made with natural lead-free cotton wicks and the highest quality non-toxic coconut soy blend wax, for a burn that is pure, creamy and fragrant.

Crackling wooden wick

No Parabens. No Silicones. No PEGs.

Instructions: Trim wicks to 7 mm before each use using scissors or a wick trimmer. If wicks are too short the wax may not burn all the way to the edge (tunnelling), and if too long the wicks may appear to mushroom causing black soot to form on the glass.
Place candle in a non-draughty area, away from small children, pets and flammable material.

Do not burn for less than one hour or more than four hours at a time.

Our Story behind the ίριδα candle

This candle is the first of two, where a portion of every candle made will be donated to a specific charity. Proceeds from this candle will be donated to Blood Cancer Australia. As in the past 12 months both myself and my grandfather were diagnosed with a blood cancer. Myself with Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma and my grandfather Taki, Leukaemia.

I have spent considerable time contemplating what to name this candle. Together? Us? Something that signifies the love we have for one another and the bond we shared over this time of our lives.

The scent of the black orchid resonated with me most. You can feel the darkest moments of your life during an unexpected diagnosis like this but there were also so many days that were extraordinarily beautiful. During this time ginger was often something I would consume to alleviate symptoms from my treatment and bergamot, a masculine scent in memory of my grandfather Taki.

The name ίριδα in modern Greek comes from the word Iris, describing the personification of the rainbow and messenger of the gods. My grandfather passed not long after the news of my remission. That day I planted a tree in memory of him and as I looked up I was adorned by the most breathtaking double rainbow. This could have been coincidental but it gave me hope that the ones we love and lose are still with us.

This candle is for him. This candle is for me.

This candle is for blood cancer.
